It Shouldn’t Happen to an Egger

Ages ago, I brought the body of an Egger-bahn contractors loco and put it in my ‘stash’.

Recently, I thought it might make a good loco for Bahnchen.

Here’s how I converted it to 6.5mm gauge. Click on a photo for a larger image.

The Egger body and the Rokuhan Shorty chassis are almost the same size.
The Rokuhan chassis fits inside the loco body easily.
The Rokuhan chassis protrudes above the footplate. I built a tool chest to cover it.
The original lamp was missing so I added a replacement.
To add extra weight, two strips of lead were stuck inside the body.
The Rokuhan chassis slides between the lead strips.
Here’s the loco before painting.
It needed a driver…
Here is the finished loco.
The final model retains some of the character of the original Egger-bahn loco.

  1. Love this! The EggerBahn works locos are so iconic. Great adaptation and neat tool box. There should be more of this kind of loco on narrow gauge layouts

      I will whisper this but there is a rumour that I may be working on a second Egger-bash.
      I’ve no idea why such a small, one track layout needs a second loco….!
