The bogie box van has been completed and this time I didn’t drop it while I varnished it 🙂
The damaged roof was removed using a pen knife and the mess was tidied up using a big file. Actually, it went surprisingly well, and the replacement roof and rain strips came out OK.
I weathered the wagon using Citadel Agrax Earthshade, a dirty black/brown ink-like product. It creates a nice weathered effect but it’s easy to put too much on and one side of the wagon is a little darker than the other. It doesn’t really matter, you only see one side of the wagon at any one time 🙂
I’m pleased I persisted with this build. The finished model is about 94mm (3.7 inch) long, and it is much, much bigger than my other O9 stock. That adds some interesting variety when I’m operating Thomas and Sons.
