The holiday season is a time for relaxing and what better way to relax than weathering some wagons?
The converted Tri-ang coal wagons have been weathered and varnished. Quite a heavy weathering job including light grey, muddy brown, rust and finally lots of black to represent the accumulated coal dust.
The wagons were varnished with vallejo acrylic matt varnish from a rattle can. This is the first time I’ve used this varnish and I’m impressed. It has a nice matt finish and is much less smelly than the the varnish I’ve used in the past. (You must still wear a face mask, goggles and gloves though). I think I’ll use the vallejo varnish more often. Many thanks to Nikki (aka Narrow Ways) on the NGRM forum for recommending it.
