Completed: Toy Train Box Cab Loco

In my previous post I started converting a 32mm gauge toy train into a SM32 Box Cab Loco.

Work has progressed steadily over the last few weeks and I’m pleased to say I’ve finished the build.

Some details were included to add interest to the roof area.
I made a support for the radio control and a seat for the driver. Note the recycled lolly stick for the seat back 🙂
The body was painted.
And so was the chassis.
The body and roof were weathered and some more detailing pieces were prepared.
The weathered chassis looks much better than when it was plain black.
The driver, radio control and battery were mounted on the chassis.
I soldered up a lighting loom.
It works and I only burnt myself once – a successful soldering job for me 🙂
The radiator and windows were glued in place and the lights installed.
The lights do work !
The red one appears brighter than the white one.
Is this real or just an optical illusion?
Here’s the completed loco.
At 120mm long and 130mm over the rails (4.7 x 5.1 inches) it’s a compact loco with a bit of character !
