The Completed Packing Shed

The shunting layout I am building, Springwell, needs an horticultural packing shed.

The last time the packing shed featured on this blog was in March.

I’m pleased to say I’ve made slow but steady progress since then and the building is now completed… Yeh!

The building is a plywood shell.
Painted with grey undercoat. The doors are made from coffee stirrers.
I coated the walls with ‘Wall Whitewashing’ from Mig-Ammo.
Then installed the door and window.
For the roof, I cut pieces of card and corrugated them with this device.
I painted them to resemble rusty corrugated iron.
The card pieces were glued to the roof.
Then I attached the sliding doors.
Finally, I added doors sills.
I painted what is possibly the weirdest back scene ever !
The building was screwed in place on the baseboard.
I think it looks right on the layout.
At 60cm (almost 24 inches) long it’s the biggest building I’ve ever made and is almost entirely scratch built.

Now I can start working on the rest of the scenery 🙂

  2. Reminds me of that British little 18in line transporting some kind of veggie from big pools.. It had a similar building if i remember correctly..
