My little 009 layout needs a small coal office near one of the sidings.
I thought the Dapol Kitmaster lineside hut (Dapol C011) would be ideal but it turned out to be a little too big
No problem I love kit-bashing 🙂 (Click on the photo for a larger image).
The kit is well moulded and easy to build.I removed three planks from the front, one at each end and one between the door and window. To even things up I removed three planks from the rear too. After the cutting, I joined the pieces together. Cut and Shut 🙂To make the build easier I added a floor made from 0.5mm (20 thou) plasticard.I didn’t like the Dapol door so I made my own and I added extra detail to the roof.I felt it needed more texture. I covered the chimney in styrene brick sheet. Then scratched some wood texture into the walls.A quick wash with toothpaste and a coat of primer brings everything together.
The final hut looks good and is the right size. It needs painting, but that’s a job for another day…
