Boxomise: Cut-and-Shut Kitmaster

My little 009 layout needs a small coal office near one of the sidings.

I thought the Dapol Kitmaster lineside hut (Dapol C011) would be ideal but it turned out to be a little too big

No problem I love kit-bashing 🙂 (Click on the photo for a larger image).

The kit is well moulded and easy to build.
I removed three planks from the front, one at each end and one between the door and window.
To even things up I removed three planks from the rear too.
After the cutting, I joined the pieces together. Cut and Shut 🙂
To make the build easier I added a floor made from 0.5mm (20 thou) plasticard.
I didn’t like the Dapol door so I made my own and I added extra detail to the roof.
I felt it needed more texture. I covered the chimney in styrene brick sheet. Then scratched some wood texture into the walls.
A quick wash with toothpaste and a coat of primer brings everything together.

The final hut looks good and is the right size. It needs painting, but that’s a job for another day…
