Royston & District MRC Exhibition 2023

On Saturday 1st April the Royston and District Model Railway Club held their annual exhibition.

I was helping the Cambridge club with their large 00 layout Nightlayer’s Drove. It was a busy and enjoyable day. Operating a large layout with DC cab control, a seven lane fiddle yard and a 55 move operating sequence was a new experience for me and a lot of fun! Thanks to the 31A crew for a good day out.

I did get some time to run around the exhibition and take some snaps. Here they are. Click on a photo for a larger image.

Canute Road Quay, 00
Amazing sense of perspective
Location is near to Southampton.
Geeksville American HO
Lovely American feel to this layout.
Attractive stock too.

Well created mountain scenery effects
I love the railcar.
I bet the guy on the bridge is yodeling
Good use of commercial kits and stock to create a very plausable scene.
Model thatching emonstration.
Nightlayers Drove, 00
There are some nice cameos -note the guy in the wagon..
Cleaning the cattle dock you don’t see that modelled very often.
Alan’s lovely Sentinel steam railcar.
I didn’t realise that the LNER had over 80 railcars.
North Level Railway, O-16.5 narrow gauge
Set in East Anglia.
Very attractive scenery.
Nice buildings…
.. I particularly liked the station building.
I think this was my favourite layout of the exhibition
A rather liked their rail cleaner and was allowed to photograph it
Raven Hill, O9 narrow gauge
The level crossing.
The station.
On shed.
Some lovely scenic work.
Whaplode, 7mm standard gauge
The crane lifs and lowers the load onto the wagons.
Really nice scenic modelling.
The view from the end shows the layout is compact and interesting to operate.

Blog Backlog: Normally I try to publish exhibition photos as close to the exhibition day as possible but life is very busy at the moment hence the backlog. Bear with….

    • Hi Chris, That’s a pity. I dont know why that could be, it works fine for me in both Firefox and Edge. Sorry can’t be of more help, I’m not an ‘IT guy’ 🙂
