Bury St Edmunds Spring Exhibition 2023

On Saturday 25th March I popped into the Bury St Edmunds Model Railway Club Spring Exhibition.

Really enjoyable exhibition, several great layouts, lots of traders and plenty of visitors.

Many thanks to the Bury MRC for organising such a good exhibition.

Here are some photos of the layouts that caught my eye. Click on a photo for a larger version.

Let’s start with my favourite layout,
St Tugdual by Roger Main
Z gauge, N scale, representing French metre gauge.
The locos are plasticard models on Marklin chassis – Lovely modelling!
Super use of 3 way points too – really reliable operation.
Parklands 4mm scale with 009 by Alan Cox.
Inspired by Bressingham
Lots of super details even a crazy golf course.
Margarets Mill by the king and queen of 7mm micro layouts Colin and Margaret French.
Hudson’s Mill was a real mill in East Sussex.
Here we imagine there’s a similar mill in East Anglia. A good excuse to use a J70.
Cobbolds Wharf, wonderful S7 scale modelling by Bury St Edmunds MRC.
Lovely perspectives.
The buildings are superb.
Great detailing.
As Beyoncé said – shoulda putta backscene on it.

Some great views on this layout.
Attractive scenic modelling, notice the boat.
Nice detailed cameos.
Many of the buildings are lit too.
Ashwell Moor by John Barnes.
Described in the program as ‘a small fueling point’.
An excellent example of what can be achieved in 7mm scale in a small space.
