Sunday Operating Session

On Sunday the Beds and Bucks Narrow Gauge Modellers met at the Stapleford Pavillion for a modelling afternoon. Everyone brought their current projects, there were lots of interesting models to see and plenty of opportunities to learn new stuff. Large quantities of tea and coffee were drunk (modellers run on hot drinks!).

I took my shunting layout, Thomas and Sons, and I spent an enjoyable afternoon playing trains. It made me realise how little time I spend operating. Perhaps modellers divide into two groups those who prefer making models and those who prefer operating them. I think I’m in the first category 🙂

  1. I like both! I really enjoy creating landscapes for trains to run through. But I also like exhibiting and talking to the public, despite the hassle of transporting, setting up and dismantling the layout.

    • Hi Chris,
Well it was just a theory 🙂 Perhaps there are 3 categories: makers, operators and ‘maker/operators’. Like you I enjoy exhibiting, it’s talking to all the interesting people that I wouldn’t normally meet that make it fun.

  2. It was good to cat5ch up on progress. As I said, I think the colouring is just right – and that’s one angry sky! Many thanks for organising the meeting.

    • Thanks David. It was good to see you on Sunday. I’m pleased you like the colouring- I wanted to try something a little different and it’s good to know other people like it. Enjoy Warley at the weekend.
