Amberley Industrial Trains Day

Today, was the Autumn Industrial Trains Day at Amberley Museum in West Sussex.

I wanted to see the narrow gauge trains but there’s a whole lot more than that at the museum…

They have recreated a Southdown bus company garage…
… a village garage and cycle shop…
… and they even have their own fire station.
In the railway hall, WD904 a Wickham trolley’ from MOD Eastriggs, Scotland
I love the simplicity of the controls on the Wickham.

These locos were not built for comfort!
Electric set from the Post Office underground railway in London built in 1931.
Hudson Petrol/Paraffin “Go-Go” Tractor built in 1932.
Locomotive from the Guinness Brewery in Dublin built to an unusual gauge of 1 foot 10 inches.
Motor Rail loco from the London Brick Co, Yaxley, Peterborough
I like the large traction weights.
Wingrove & Rogers BEV from 1979. Such a short wheelbase!
Full of character, this is a Hudson Hunslet loco formerly operating at
Thakeham Tiles, West Sussex
Possibly my favourite loco of the day, this lovely Ransomes & Rapier
There were lots and lots of skip wagons. These ones featured in a James Bond film !

It poured with rain and I went home soaked to the skin, but I had a great time 🙂

  2. Hi Steve, I’m hoping to be able to go and if I do my financial advisor and wallet watcher will be with me! Given the weather it may well be cycling overcoat. I went out this morning and it took me an hour to reheat once home! Beano or das kampf? Woody
