Completed O9 Loco Kit Bash

The conversion of the 009 Kerr Stuart 3D printed body into an O9 (On18) loco is complete.

It’s been a lot of fun to add the final details and paint it. Click on an image for a larger version.

First, 3D printed controls and a seat were added to the cab.

Then the loco was given a coat of grey primer.

The body was repainted a slightly lighter shade of grey (although it doesn’t look lighter in this photo!).

The cab details were painted Anthracite to resemble ‘worn’ black.

The loco was given a wash of diluted black paint. I was disappointed how patchy this was, but decided to leave it and carry on.

Everything was given a good coating of rust colour.
The some mud colour added to the cab and steps.

A driver was recruited.

He was painted and given a wash of diluted black.

Pieces of coffee stirrer were stained to make them look like aged wood.

Finally the seat, the driver and the original tool box were added to the cab.
Here’s the completed loco.
I am pleased with the detail in the cab area.

    • Hi Woody, Thank you. There is a control panel, just by the drivers left elbow. I think it got hidden when I weathered the loco, oh, and the driver helped to hide it too 🙂
