Yesterday was the Trent Valley Narrow Gauge Modellers Open Day.
It was a super day with lots of interesting models, a wide variety of traders and loads of interesting people to talk to.
I’m pleased to say that Apadobe Mine behaved well 99% of the time, not bad for a layout that was built to sit on a shelf at home.
I’m not sure I was so well behaved. I cheated and broke the rules of the Ingelnook shunting puzzle many times. No one seemed to mind though š
Many thanks to Mike Bellamy, the TVNGM members and their wives and partners for putting on such an enjoyable open day.
If you stopped by and said ‘Hello’, it was a pleasure to meet you!
I really enjoyed all of the interesting conversations and came home with a big smile on my face š
On a separate note, to avoid the ‘morning rush’ of getting to an exhibition and getting everything set up on time, I went to Derby on Friday. This gave me the opportunity to visit the Museum of Making.
Set in a converted mill by the river it celebrates Derby’s 300-year history of … well… making.
Many of the 30 000 objects are displayed as though they were in a museum’s storeroom. This creates a fantastic, eclectic display of objects celebrating Derby’s connections to silk and textile mills, the railway works, the Rolls-Royce car and aircraft factory, and much more.
It was fascinating… and free ! Click on an image for a larger picture.

Good to see you, and the layout, at the show. That museum though -definitly one for the list!
