Boxomise: Platform Progress

My OO scale passengers will need a platform to help them get in the coaches.

Here’s how I made it.

Marking the width of the largest stock. It’s good to do this with a couple of pieces of rolling stock.
The platform edge has to go on the rear white line
A card template was cut to size.
A piece of 9mm ply was cut to the same shape.
I wanted to use Wills SSMP201 Wood Planking for the platform edging.
The ply was sanded down to make it slightly lower than the edging.
The edging was painted and given a light weathering.
I screwed the platform in place so I can reposition it if needed.
I think it’ll work !

Learnings: The plywood was quite hard to work. For ‘First’ I used a balsa wood base for the platform. It’s good to experiment and change things from time to time but think I will stick to balsa in future!

To do: I need to add a surface to the platform. I’m thinking cinders…

  1. A nice little tutorial, Stephen. Be careful with the size of the cinders. It’s easy to overdo it. Guess how I know?!
