Boxomise: Coal Office Painted

After my many visits to exhibitions and open days I’ve done some modelling.

The coal merchant’s office has been painted. Calling it an office may be a little too grand. It’s more of a shed πŸ™‚

The roof was painted with Revell Anthracite with dabs of Humbrol Coach Roof Grey (RC412) and Engineers Grey (RC413). I’m not sure you can buy Humbrol Rail Colour paints anymore. It’s a pity if you can’t!

The walls were done with two washed of diluted Citadel Dryad Bark, dry brushed with the two Humbrol greys (see above) and a couple of washes with AmmoMIG Enamel Wash Dark Wash. I like the aged effect this has created.

When I made the hut I spend some time distressing the wooden planking. I am pleased I did, it has resulted in a nice textured effect to the wood. The photo below shows un-distressed wood to the left of the chimney, and distressed to the right.

The back of the model will face the back scene so the inconsistent planking effects and the dodgy joints on the brickwork will be hidden from view πŸ™‚

This building is really small but I got a huge amount of pleasure from making and painting it. Sometimes it’s the little things….
