It’s a holiday weekend and the weather is lovely. Perfect for a visit to a miniature railway 🙂
The Riverside Miniature Railway is located in a very attractive park near the River Ouse. It’s a 7.25 and 5 inch dual gauge line that’s open on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer.
It’s very well equiped with a three line station, two level crossings, a turntable and lots of buildings for storage.
While I was visiting the trains were being hauled by two electric locomotives built by Phoenix Locos of Southport. These are small locos and I was impressed how they handled the loaded trains and the gradients with ease.
It’s a pretty ride through the park, which is wonderfully green at this time of year. There are a wide variety of plastic animals for the childeren to ‘spot’ and one particularly nice touch was the ‘tunnel’ made of willow stems. Very unusual.
Well worth a visit. It appears they are building an extension… I’ll be back!
