On my workbench at the moment are four Parkside Dundas kits. Two are two compartment 4 wheel coaches (one as a brake), one is an open two compartment 4 wheel coach and the last is a 4 wheel guards van. The brake van is a Vale of Rheidol prototype and the others are freelance designs based on VoR / Glyn Valley Tramway style rolling stock.
My plan is to combine them to make a variety of two and three coach passenger trains. I’m hoping these short trains will work well on my small layout.
Hi Stephen,
Firstly, your first layout has inspired me to build a small 009 layout for me to run the new Bachman Baldwin, and then for my little one to run a Bachman Skarloey.
Are these the GVT inspired kit DM29 or are they freelance 4 wheel kit DM04a kits?
Knowing me I will probably return with lots more questions.
Cheers for now.

Hi Alex
Good to hear from you. I’ve very pleased ‘First’ has inspired you to build a layout. It’s a lot of fun and I hope you really enjoy it!
The Bachmann locos run really well, good choice. The larger, dark green coaches I have are Dundas Models kits (DM29 as you said) https://009adventure.blog/2015/03/14/the-workhorse-coaches-are-finished/ The smaller lighter green coaches are kits from Colin Ashby https://009adventure.blog/2015/01/26/coaches-are-like-buses/. I don’t think he’s selling them directly but you can often get them new from the 009 Society http://009society.com/ . If you are interested in 009 it’s worth joining the society. Good magazine, mail order sales of new and second hand stuff, plus the local groups are good (if there’s one near you).
Keep in touch and let me know how it’s going. I’m happy to answer any questions.
All the best

Hi Stephen,
Just thought I’d drop by and let you know, my little one and I have made a start on our 009 layout. Progress can be followed on RMWeb: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/139978-starting-off-in-009-in-box/#entry3384563
Thank you for the inspiration.
Kind Regards

Hi Alex
Good to hear from you. Your layout’s looking great! Thanks for the positive feedback on First, much appreciated. Good idea to use a really useful storage box. I made a box from ply … and it’s just too big! I’m pleased to see your son’s enjoying it too.
I don’t know if you’ve found the narrow gauge forum http://ngrm-online.com but you might find some interesting stuff there.
Keep going, and keep in touch!
Steve
