As a child I had a Hornby 00 Flying Scotsman set. Yet, I much preferred narrow gauge and dreamed of my own 009 layout. It didn’t happen.

Now, many years later, the idea came back into my head. But did those little narrow gauge trains still appeal? I needed to check. I drove for 2 hours to visit the 009 Society Member’s Day in Mansfield. I had a wonderful day. It was a great venue, packed with super layouts. And, yes, the magic was still there.

I thought, “If I don’t do it now, I never will”. That’s how this adventure started…..
