Redwell is a small terminus on a narrow gauge common carrier running through the Cambridgeshire countryside. It is a quiet rural terminus where not much happens.

The track plan is a slight variation on the classic Roy C Link plan ‘The Art of Compromise’ published in Railway Modeller in October 1978.

This layout is named after an ancient well, near Knapwell in Cambridgeshire, that is rumoured to be the source of miraculous cures.
It was designed to fit inside a plastic box for storage and has a scenic area of 111.5 x 32 cm (approximately 44 x 12.5 inches).

In reality, it sits on a shelf ready to be operated.

While I was building the layout I gave it a code name ‘Boxomise’ (from The Art of Compromise in a box).
