The Wills Goods Yard (SS63) seemed perfect for Boxomise but, on the layout, it was too big.
Never one to shy away from using a razor saw I thought I’d cut it down to a suitable size.
Things didn’t go to plan, but they turned out well in the end.

To reduce the width of the building I cut the windows from each end.Next I needed to correct the roof angles. They say measure twice and cut once, but I wasn’t even measuring (!) and managed to get different angles on either side.I brought some Wills clapboarding (SSMP213) and cut new ends – measuring carefully this time. The length of the shed was reduced by cutting 12mm off of each side. The floor was cut to size and the building assembled. Plastic strip was added to disguise the joins and bring everything together.A base from a scrap of wood, covered in brick effect embossed plastic sheet. To stop the rain getting in, a roof made from Wills felt and batten sheet (SSMP229).I couldn’t resist testing it on the layout. Looks about right to me.Finally, some primer. The goods shed doors and roof will be added after painting the interior.
The next job will be to add detail to the interior.
