The converted Tri-ang coal wagon has been painted and… Surprise! … there are two of them.
Resin casting the fake chassis made it easy to make a second one.
But wait, these are coal wagons. They are far too clean. The next job has to be some weathering.
Hello Steve:
I am contemplating a similar conversion but using North Amercian HO rolling stock which typically uses two axle trucks (bogies). I have held off on the conversation until I can source N scale 9 mm wheelsets of an appropriate diameter. How did you handle the 16.5 to 9 mm conversion? Do you know of a good source of 9 mm wheelsets of various diameters?

Hi Francis, Good to hear from you. I must admit I’ve used the wheels that I have to hand in my ‘parts box’. The Graham Farish / Bachman wheelsets, links below. If you do find a source of wheelsets of different diameters please let me know, I’d be interested to use them. I’d encourage you to try the conversion – it’s a lot of fun. All the best Steve
